Through its Water Academy, Programmed has welcomed the next generation of operational maintenance staff for its Sydney Water partnership, aiming to empower youth and provide new growth opportunities.
After many months of preparation and behind-the-scenes planning from its Operational Maintenance leadership team, Kyle, Christian, Jack, and Nathaniel have now begun their journey with the West Region Delivery Team at Preston’s Depot.
Moreover, another two first-year fitter apprentices, Darcy Lynch and Jayden Boyd, joined the team on 14 November.
On their first day, the team were introduced to various systems and processes required for their daily tasks and general understanding of the work they were about to undertake in their apprenticeships. They have also completed both the inductions for Programmed’s West Region Delivery Team and Sydney Water, ensuring all are familiar with the safety processes.
On Day Two, the apprentices continued learning the ropes through further familiarisation of Programmed’s safety systems. Afterwards, this was followed by a site visit to the Sewer Pump Station in Dunheved and then capping of the day at the heartland of the West Region, St Mary’s Water Recycling Plant.
As part of Water Academy’s apprenticeship program, Programmed’s apprentices will now spend a period of time in both the network and treatment areas of Programmed’s Operational Maintenance business with Sydney Water, alongside its more experienced Trades staff.
