The Western Australian Local Government Association (WALGA) has revealed its Strategic Plan for 2025-2029.
This final document highlights WALGA’s vision for the coming five years – to be the authoritative voice and trusted partner for Western Australian local government.
WALGA has said that its values – respect, excellence, accountability, collaboration and curiosity will underpin everything it does.
This new Strategic Plan outlines the organisation’s vision, values, and key outcomes aligned to the strategic pillars (influence, support, expertise and explore) and will enable it to be an agile, future focused organisation and be the drivers in advocating and delivering the best outcomes for its people, members, suppliers and stakeholders, across all facets of local government.
The plan outlines the following goals for its four strategic pillars:

- Lead advocacy on issues important to local government
- Champion local government
- Lead policy development for the local government sector
- Empower the local government sector to build communities equipped for the future
Support
- Anticipate, understand and respond to member needs
- Offer integrated, member-centric services
- Provide practical, sector-wide solutions based on research and evidence
- Grow opportunities for local government sharing of services and resources

- Optimise operational capability to service members’ needs
- Pursue growth and innovation through investment in emerging technologies
