A new check-in app has been launched in NSW that allows patrons to check-in at venues across the state and assist businesses monitor cases and stay safe against potential COVID-19 outbreaks.
The Service NSW app will roll out the use of QR codes to help capture guest information and make check-in at venues easier. The information will then be stored securely for NSW Health officials to access quickly if contact tracing is required.
Businesses are encouraged to use the app in their venues and the NSW Government said the service is free and will help businesses comply with public health orders.
Around 400 businesses initially trialled the QR code check-in process, with the app passing an independent privacy review. Close to 2.2 million customers currently have the Service NSW app on their mobile phones.
Minister for Customer Service, Victor Dominello, said customers should download the latest version of the app to ensure safety across venues.
“Customers can already use their Service NSW app to complete a number of transactions, so it makes sense for them to be able to use it to check-in to venues as well,” Mr Dominello said.
