Mornington Peninsula Shire Council has adopted its Public Transparency Policy 2022, in support of the region’s continued commitment to openness and transparency.

The document will ensure transparency in Council’s decision-making process and outlines its processes for disseminating said information to the public.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor, Anthony Marsh, said accountability and transparency were critical to both democracy and local government values.

“Being open, honest, transparent and accountable with our community is the foundation of democracy and our organisation,” Mr Marsh said.

Adopted at Council’s  monthly meeting in August, Mornington Peninsula councillors also agreed to several additional transparency policies, which include:

  • Public Transparency Policy 2020
  • Community Engagement Policy
  • Chief Executive Officer Annual Performance and Remuneration Review
  • Councillor Gift Policy including online register
  • Budget briefings open to the public
  • Live streaming online of all Council and Planning Services meetings
  • Conflict of Interest Declarations available online
