Tamworth Regional Council and Water Technology have developed a new Flood Early Warning System, promising to protect residents of Nundle and Woolomin from dangerous flooding.

The system uses Bureau of Meteorology rain forecast, radar and river level data to predict the flows in Duncans Creek at Woolomin and the Peel River at Nundle and Woolomin, better equipping Council and New South Wales’ State Emergency Services in responding to future flooding.

The project was jointly funded by Tamworth Regional Council, the New South Wales Government and the Federal Government under the Natural Disaster Resilience Program.

Residents in Nundle and Woolomin are encouraged to subscribe to receive SMS notifications when moderate or major flooding is predicted in their area.
