The ALGA has announced that registrations will be opening in late January for the 2024 National General Assembly, which it will be hosting in Canberra from 2–4 July.
The ALGA has also announced plans to incorporate the Regional Cooperation and Development Forum into the 2024 NGA.
TheNGA 2024 theme is ‘Building Community Trust’, centring on the critical importance of trust in governments, between governments, institutions, and citizens.
NGA 2024 sessions and special guest speakers will cover a range of engaging topics including politics and civic engagement, intergenerational equity, the impact of the built environment on social capital, and how to deliver effective community engagement in the face of distrust.
The ALGA has also invited councils to download and review the discussion paper containing essential information and outlining the criteria for submitting NGA motions in 2024.
