Registrations are now open for the 2026 National Local Roads, Transport and Infrastructure Congress, with local government professionals from across Australia set to gather in Cairns on 25-26 August.
Delivered by the Australian Local Government Association (ALGA) in partnership with nbn Australia, the annual congress brings together councillors, council officers and industry experts to explore best practice in road and infrastructure management.
This year’s program will examine a range of emerging issues, including fuel security and supply chain resilience, infrastructure design and driver behaviour, workforce capability and succession planning, accessibility and inclusive design, and level crossing safety and management.
Delegates will also have the opportunity to participate in a technical tour of the Gordonvale Water Security Project, showcasing one of Far North Queensland’s major water infrastructure initiatives.
The congress provides a forum for sharing practical insights, discussing new approaches to infrastructure delivery and asset management, and exploring the challenges facing local government road networks and enabling infrastructure.
