The Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC) has received a prestigious award at the Waste Authority’s Waste Sorted 2024 Awards gala dinner.

EMRC was awarded the 2024 Local Government / Regional Council winner for Waste Management Initiatives.

This esteemed recognition by the Western Australian state government’s Waste Authority highlights the EMRC’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and its comprehensive strategy to demonstrate Circular Economy leadership, minimise environmental impact, and create value for the communities it serves.

EMRC Deputy Chairman, Aaron Bowman, expressed his pride in the team’s achievement, stating, “This award is a testament to our dedication to creating a sustainable future for our community through innovative waste management practices.”

EMRC CEO, Marcus Geisler, said that the EMRC’s sustainability strategy is not just a plan but a reflection of the organisation’s culture and values.

“The surpluses of our activities are reinvested into community-owned circularity infrastructure as well as education and engagement programs. This accolade is a fantastic recognition of the hard work and dedication of the entire EMRC team, and we are proud to be acknowledged by the Waste Authority.”
