Australia’s circular economy landscape is set for a dynamic transformation with the debut of ReGen, the nation’s latest Circular Resource Expo.
This groundbreaking event, organised by Diversified Australia, will take place at the ICC Sydney: International Convention & Exhibition Centre on July 23-24, 2025. ReGen marks a significant evolution, building upon the legacy of the Australasian Waste & Recycling Expo (AWRE) and incorporating the Circularity conference, presented by Planet Ark’s Australian Circular Economy Hub (ACE Hub).
For councils across New South Wales and Australia, ReGen 2025 represents a crucial opportunity to engage with the latest advancements, strategies, and solutions in circularity and resource management. The expo is designed as a national platform for professionals to unite, collaborate and forge pathways towards a cleaner, more sustainable future. It will convene a diverse range of stakeholders, including mayors, councilors, sustainability managers, purchasing officers, and town planners, along with federal and state parliamentarians, and representatives from transport, education, and energy sectors.
A key highlight of the event is the two-day free program of speakers and thought leaders from across Australia sharing their experiences and innovative approaches to waste reduction, recycling initiatives, and sustainable resource management.
The overarching theme of ReGen’s speaker program, “Aligning for Regeneration: A Collective Movement for Sustainable Progress,” encapsulates the event’s core mission. Ali Lawes, Event Director, emphasises that this theme acknowledges Diversified Australia’s role in presenting ReGen and the significance of merging the Circularity conference and AWRE. “This event will be a progression for both of those communities that are familiar with us to come together to better understand the importance in aligning for a sustainable future,” Lawes states.
With AWRE’s 15-year history as the leading business event for the circular resource and economy supply chain, ReGen is poised to amplify its impact by focusing on the circular economy. The integration of Circularity into the program will showcase cutting-edge circular design, practices, and research, driving economic growth and sustainability across the region.
ReGen’s program is structured around two key stages: the Circularity Stage, concentrating on design innovation, policy, and research, and the Resource Stage, addressing recovery, recycling, and residuals management. This dual focus ensures that attendees gain both visionary insights and practical tools for advancing circularity. Lawes expresses her hope that attendees will leave ReGen with a clear understanding of the potential for change and a renewed commitment to collaborative action. “We hope it will be a platform for all to productively share insights, challenges and find solutions together,” she says.
The ReGen Advisory Board, comprising circular economy leaders from across Australia, has played a vital role in shaping the event’s two-day speaker series. This diverse panel ensures that the program reflects the varied interests of attendees and provides engaging discussions on key challenges and innovations. As Lawes notes, “The board is made up of key industry players who represent the different and diverse interests of our attendee mix.”
The speaker program has been curated through an expression of interest process and careful review by the advisory board. This collaborative effort has resulted in a dynamic lineup featuring keynote speakers, expert-led panel discussions, and practical sessions designed to equip businesses and policymakers with the knowledge and tools to navigate the transition to a circular economy.
ReGen 2025 promises to be an unmissable event for councils in NSW and across Australia, providing a platform for collaboration, innovation and progress towards a sustainable future.
