The Victorian Local Governance Association (VLGA) has submitted feedback to the Victorian Government regarding the recent reforms to the Local Government Act 2020.

These reforms introduce a Model Councillor Code of Conduct and require Mayors, Deputy Mayors and Councillors to undertake induction training and ongoing professional development.

The VLGA has made eleven recommendations in relation to the reforms.

The VLGA said that while it offers a number of recommendations in its submission and trusts that they will be given due consideration, it firmly believes that a desire for perfection should not stand in the way of change for the better, and looks forward to playing its part in the implementation of these reforms.
