Fourteen community projects have received funding support as part of round one of Redland City Council’s 2024-2025 Community Grants Program.
Redland City Mayor, Jos Mitchell, said that more than $76,800 had been allocated in round one to support the local organisations and individuals on Redlands Coast.
The Community Grants Program has three categories – Organisation Support, Conservation and Project Support.
“Organisational Support is a way of helping to keep our community groups robust and resilient,” Mayor Mitchell said.
“There were five grants in this category that will help in areas such as staff education, workplace safety, and for developing strategic planning.
“There were also five grants for Conservation projects. These will go towards activities such as weed management, koala conservation, and flying foxes and other bat species rescue, that are carried out by our city’s amazing, registered wildlife and habitat carers.
“In terms of Project Support, four grants were provided for such diverse projects as a website development, community gardens, trades workshops for women, and Christmas markets.
“By covering such an array of projects, the Community Grants Program is a great way for Council to contribute to the strong and active community spirit we enjoy on Redlands Coast.”
Round one 2024-2025 recipients included Redland Bay Cyclones Rugby Union Club who will develop a Facility Readiness Plan, Coochiemudlo Island Bushcare Group to undertake weed management on Morwong Beach, and Women of Trades and Industry to conduct a series of workshops designed to empower women by introducing them to trades and construction skills.
Round two of the 2024-2025 Community Grants Program opens in February 2025.
