IPWEA’s International Public Works Conference (IPWC) is the largest public works conference in Australasia, and it’s returning to Sydney for the first time in over a decade.

Join thought leaders and professionals from across the public works industry to share knowledge, foster collaboration, and support the future of infrastructure and our communities. To be held at the International Convention Centre Sydney, from August 25 to 28.

With less than a month to go before IPWC – here’s five reasons why you can’t miss this event!

1. Learn from peers with over 80 practitioner-led sessions

Take this opportunity to hear case-studies and lessons learned from local government engineers, consultants and public works practitioners. With sessions across four streams – Asset Management, Public Works in Action, Sustainability, and Technology – this ensures you’ll take away practical insights to meet your organisations pain-points head on.

2. Keynotes from international speakers

International keynote speakers including The Hon Chris Bishop, Minister of Infrastructure, Housing, and Transport, New Zealand; The Hon. Minister Dean Macpherson, Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, South Africa; and Ursula Bryan, CEO of the Institute of Asset Management, UK, will discuss the theme “Shaping Tomorrow’s World”, and how we can lay a forward-thinking foundation for the future of public works and engineering.

3. Address the latest challenges in the sector

From the latest in technology and data-driven decision-making, to climate adaptation and sustainable service delivery, this is a valuable opportunity to hear directly from those working on the ground to help address the challenges facing local councils and the communities they serve.

4. Valuable networking opportunities with peers and suppliers

Take advantage of exciting networking opportunities to expand your connections and discuss shared challenges with peers. This includes unwinding at the end of Day 1 of the conference at the ‘winter wonderland’ themed Casual Dinner at Squires Landing. You’ll also have plenty of time to speak with suppliers both in and out of the Exhibition Hall to learn about the latest technologies on offer.

5. Chance to support your professional development

Attending formal, technical sessions at IPWC can provide up to 30 CPD hours to support your career and professional development!

Looking for more?

IPWC Conference delegates can also register to attend the Technical Tours. This year, IPWEA are offering Technical Tours to three exciting locations, including the UTS Tech Labs, City of Bradfield, and Hunter Street Metro Station (sold out).

The Tours provide unique opportunities to view innovative public works infrastructure and the latest technology being employed in projects across Sydney.

Don’t miss out

According to IPWEA CEO, David Jenkins, this conference is not to be missed for public works professionals.

“Public works is no longer just about building new infrastructure – it’s about sustaining what we have, being strategic, and thinking long-term.

“Our goal is to help delegates navigate change, understand the latest technologies, and find real solutions through shared learning and collaboration.”

Register now to secure your place and join your peers. Don’t delay – standard pricing ends in two weeks on 10 August!
