The New South Wales Government has extended round 2 of the EV destination charging grant, giving regional councils and businesses more opportunity to receive up to 75 per cent of the cost to purchase and install EV chargers.

Applications will now close on 2 August 2024. To date, the grant has approved over 645 charge ports across more than 240 sites.

EVs now make up eleven per cent of new car sales in Australia, with New South Wales leading the way, purchasing a third of all new EVs. With 89 per cent of domestic overnight visitors in New South Wales travelling by car, the State Government is investing in more EV infrastructure.

EV drivers decide where to stop based on where they can charge and use local facilities, services and sites. The State Government has said that installing EV chargers can help put businesses and councils on the map.
