New and improved bus services across South East Queensland are set to support safer and more reliable travel for students, for a smoother start to the school year.

Students will have access to 14 new school routes and 232 route modifications to better meet community needs, ensuring families enjoy a safe and stress-free start to Term 1.

Eligible students can access additional support to cover transport costs with the School Transport Assistance Scheme.

Before school starts again, families should check TransLink’s School Service finder or Journey Planner to see if there are any changes from last year.

Queensland Minister for Transport and Main Roads, Brent Mickelberg, said these changes will improve reliability, enhance safety and address overcrowding, while ensuring services align with school start times and population growth in key areas.

“As parents, we know a smooth morning routine sets the tone for a positive first day back at school. Understanding from where and when your child needs to travel can help ease stress and anxiety as households settle back into term time,” Mickelberg said.

“That’s why the Queensland Government is doing our bit to make sure bus services get kids to school ahead of new bell times, with improved bus routes, timetables and stops after we listened to what the community and schools needed.”
