The ALGA has extended the deadline for councils to submit motions to the 2024 National General Assembly of Local Government (NGA), which is being held in Canberra on 2-4 July.
Councils will now be able to make submissions to the Assembly until Tuesday 30 April 2024.
In December last year, local governments were invited to submit motions for debate at the 2024 NGA in line with ALGA’s discussion paper.
ALGA has also announced that registrations are open for the 2024 NGA and the Australian Council of Local Government (ACLG), to be held on 5 July.
The theme for the 2024 NGA is “Building Community Trust”, which aims to explore the critical importance of trust in governments, between governments, its institutions and citizens, acknowledging trust as a fundamental building block of Australia’s democracy.
