Melbourne CBD

US leading software provider Lucidchart has officially opened its new Asia-Pacific headquarters on Bourke Street, in Melbourne’s CBD.

Lucidchart, used by the majority of America’s Fortune 500, makes data visualisation software and is one of the world’s leading tech companies, with more than 15 million users across 180 countries, including Australia.

The company’s cloud-based platform promotes innovation through collaborative diagramming and is used by Google, Adobe, Netflix, Amazon, Microsoft and locally, Woolworths supermarkets.

Victorian Minister for Economic Development, Tim Pallas, said, “International investment is a critical contributor to Victoria’s economy, helping to build our capabilities and boost other businesses – and we welcome Lucidchart to the fold.

“Tech companies are choosing to invest in Melbourne because of our skilled workforce, culture of innovation and thriving tech sector.”

The company’s investment is expected to generate more than 100 new jobs over five years, with 10 tech specialists already working out of the Asia-Pacific offices.

Founded in 2010 by CEO, Karl Sun, and CTO, Ben Dilts, Lucidchart joins a growing number of companies from Utah’s thriving tech scene that are calling Melbourne home, such as Podium and InMoment.

Lucidchart’s investment is the latest boost to Victoria’s tech sector, which employs more than 137,900 people across more than 19,300 businesses and generating $36.6 billion in revenue annually.

Savills Research Tech Cities in Motion global report identifies Melbourne as Australia’s leading tech city. Melbourne has also been crowned most innovative city by 2thinknow’s Innovation Cities Index.

Lucidchart Chief Executive Officer, Karl Sun, said, “It’s clear that Melbourne has a burgeoning tech scene that will only continue to grow – we couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the community, benefit from its talented workforce and better serve our customers in the Asia-Pacific region.”
