Three Victorian councils have claimed awards at the LGPro Annual Conference on 4 June for their community serving initiatives.

Greater Dandenong City Council has taken out 2025’s Customer Experience Award.

The team behind Greater Dandenong’s EventConnect initiative was celebrated at the LGPro Annual Conference at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne.

Greater Dandenong’s Festivals and Events Team upended lengthy, complex event permit processes to create a streamlined, customer-centric process that has been encouraging their community to create free community events.

The Customer Experience Award recognises customer service improvements that enhance a council’s overall customer experience through innovative strategies, exceptional service delivery, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.

Kingston City Council has won 2025’s Community and Integrated Planning Award for its Talking Kingston platform.

Kingston has innovated its budget planning by inviting feedback year-round, empowering residents and businesses to shape decisions from the outset. This shift has transformed the budget process from reactive to proactive.

The Community and Integrated Planning Award celebrates broad-ranging planning success, with a focus on excellence in the diverse forms of planning, from sustainable community and service planning to council planning. The award highlights initiatives for their transparent reporting, performance measurement, and how well they empower communities.

Monash and Kingston City Councils have both picked up 2025’s Positive Ageing and Wellbeing Awards.

Kingston won the award for grant-funded initiatives with a virtual reality program that put VR in the hands of seniors, fostering connection, storytelling and digital literacy.

Monash won the award for self-funded initiatives with a storytelling competition that brought young people and older adults together to celebrate meaningful relationships and foster mutual understanding.

The Positive Ageing and Wellbeing Awards highlights the local government teams working towards improved health and wellbeing outcomes for people as they age.

These awards came ahead of the LGPro Awards for Excellence which were held the following day on 5 June.
