Australasia’s largest public works conference kicks off on 25 August. Do you have your ticket yet?

Hosted by the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia, the International Public Works Conference (IPWC) will be running in 2 weeks at the International Convention Centre Sydney, from August 25 to 28.

IPWEA CEO David Jenkins says, this conference is not to be missed!

“Public works is no longer just about building new infrastructure, instead it’s about sustaining what we have, being strategic, and thinking long-term,” Jenkins says.

“Our goal is to help delegates navigate change, understand the latest technologies, and find real solutions through shared learning and collaboration.”

Time is running out to register, so don’t miss this exciting event, featuring over 80 practitioner-led sessions, valuable keynote speakers, and a host of networking opportunities.

Practitioner-led sessions across four streams

This year, the IPWC agenda includes over 80 practitioner-led sessions providing case studies from local government engineers, managers, and government consultants.

With sessions to be presented across four streams – asset management, public works in action, sustainability, and technology – you’re guaranteed to take away practical insights to help you meet your challenges head on.

Hear from local and international thought leaders

Discussing topics ranging from the latest in technology and data-driven decision-making, to climate adaptation and sustainable service delivery, IPWC will welcome a range of local and international speakers to the stage.

You’ll hear from:

  • Chris Minns, Premier of New South Wales
  • Professor Arnold Dix, barrister, scientist, Professor of Engineering, and international tunnelling expert
  • The Hon Chris Bishop, Minister of Infrastructure, Housing, and Transport, New Zealand
  • The Hon. Minister Dean Macpherson, Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, South Africa
  • Maria Atkinson, Commissioner at NSW Net Zero Commission
  • Col. Andrew Hansell, Chief Engineer of the 19th Chief Engineer Works
  • Kate Munari, Royal Australian Navy Helicopter Pilot

Featuring one-day street lighting and smart controls forum

Moderated by lighting expert Graham Mawer, Director at Next Energy Lighting, the Street Lighting and Smart Controls Forum is an exciting part of the agenda at IPWC. Running on Tuesday 26 August at the ICC.

The program has been curated to address the current challenges facing the sector and will provide an update on some of the latest emerging technologies being employed.

You’ll hear from Australia’s leading public lighting experts in talks about light pollution, smart controls, dimming, smart poles, sports field lighting, pedestrian crossings, solar lighting and sensors.

Join the Technical Tours

This year, IPWC delegates have the option to join a Technical Tour to one of three exciting locations: the UTS Tech Labs, City of Bradfield, and Hunter Street Metro Station (sold out).

Running on Friday 29 August, the Tours are designed to provide unique opportunities to view innovative public works infrastructure and the latest technology being used in projects across Sydney.
