Alice Springs will take centre stage during National NAIDOC Week 2026, serving as the official host city for the landmark 50th anniversary celebrations.
Running from 5-12 July, the program features a week of community events celebrating Aboriginal culture, history and achievement, with activities designed to bring together residents and visitors from across Australia.
A highlight of the program is Newlandia, a new music and skate festival to be held on 10 July at the Newland Skate & Play Precinct and Jim McConville Oval.
Delivered by Alice Springs Town Council in partnership with Tangentyere Council and supported by the National Indigenous Australians Agency, the free all-ages event will feature live music, action sports and creative activities, while promoting youth engagement and community connection.
The partnership has enabled culturally safe programming and meaningful participation by Aboriginal families and the broader community.
Organisers said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to creating opportunities for young people, celebrating Aboriginal culture and delivering events that strengthen community connections.
