With more than 85 years’ experience, Iplex has established itself as a leading provider of water solutions in Australia. Iplex’s commitment to collaboration, expertise and innovation have made them a trusted partner with water authorities and within civil, irrigation and plumbing markets.

Iplex has positioned itself at the forefront of pipeline innovation. Their product portfolio is a testament to their dedication of advanced solutions that enhance performance, durability, and efficiency.

The reliable solution

One such innovation is BlackMAX®. Produced from polypropylene, BlackMAX drainage pipes are designed for stormwater drainage applications such as, council drainage, infrastructure drainage, ocean outfalls, road culverts, and stormwater retention.

As the original large bore structured wall pipe manufacturer in Australia, Iplex takes pride in offering councils, asset owners and developers an alternative to conventional drainage solutions. The efficient design of the BlackMAX® profile wall features a smooth inner bore and corrugated outer wall, optimising hydraulic performance whilst maintaining structural integrity.

Manufactured in Queensland and New South Wales, BlackMAX® is recognised for its durability and low-cost benefits compared with other conventional drainage pipes.

Iplex Technical Product Manager, Michael Lancuba, said, “We wanted to provide an alternative solution to conventional drainage pipes, offering a durable and lightweight system which is resistant to corrosion and root intrusion.”

The spigot and socket design includes a reinforced corrugated socket (in larger sizes DN600 double wall socket ‘cuff’) ensuring added security at the pipe joint. The carefully designed rubber ring joint provides a high degree of resistance to infiltration, exfiltration, and root ingress.

BlackMAX pipes are resistant to corrosive and aggressive ground conditions, such as acid sulphate soils and saline ground waters, enabling years of corrosion free service and low maintenance. The Water Services Association of Australia’s appraisal of Iplex Structured Wall polypropylene pipes states a Service life of more than 100 years, if designed and installed in accordance with industry standards.

A key benefit of Iplex’s BlackMAX is its ease of installation compared to other conventional drainage pipes. These lightweight pipes can be easily manoeuvred in confined areas by hand or with light lifting equipment. The rubber ring joint is also designed for ease of assembly and allows pipes to be cut anywhere along the pipe length and joined on site.

BlackMAX pipes are supplied in standard nominal lengths of 6m reducing the number of joints on site and installation costs compared with conventional pipe lengths of 2.44m.

BlackMAX stormwater drainage systems provide a reliable, durable solution for authorities and councils to improve their stormwater infrastructure in a cost-effective, efficient, and safe way.
