The New South Wales Government is investing in cultural diversity by supporting festivals and events across the state with $525,000 in grants.
Through the Multicultural NSW Stronger Together Festival and Event Grant program, 64 community organisations have been awarded a share of the $525,000 to host grassroots festivals and events that celebrate the rich cultural diversity of New South Wales.
These celebrations will take place between 1 March 2025 and 31 July 2025, creating opportunities to bring people across the state together, share their stories and experience the traditions that make New South Wales one of the most diverse places in the world.
A Tibetan festival in Nowra featuring cultural foods, music, and dances; an international food and dance festival in Coffs Harbour; a multicultural unity gala in Dubbo; and an Ethiopian cultural festival in Mt Druitt are just a few examples of the vibrant events supported in this round.
The Stronger Together Festival and Event Grants, ranging from $5,000 to $20,000, are designed to empower communities to celebrate and showcase their heritage with everyone in the community to foster social cohesion.
New South Wales Minister for Multiculturalism, Steve Kamper, said that these grants are about bringing communities together to celebrate the unique heritage and cultures that make New South Wales such a great place to live.
“Whether it’s music, dance, food or storytelling, these events allow us to experience the richness of diversity that defines New South Wales,” Minister Kamper said.
“From Nowra to Coffs Harbour, Dubbo to Mt Druitt, these festivals highlight the creativity and spirit of our multicultural community.
“The NSW Government continues to support these vibrant festivals and events because they demonstrate the value of cultural diversity and build understanding between people, which can only boost social cohesion in our state.”
