The City of Gold Coast Council has called on the private sector to submit innovative ideas that will enhance the city’s services and provide benefits for residents.

A new Enhance Gold Coast online portal has been launched to capture innovative commercial proposals made by businesses to deliver a project or provide services and goods that benefit the city.

City of Gold Coast Mayor, Tom Tate, said that innovative proposals were an opportunity for the city and the private sector to engage in a manner that allows both parties to address the needs of the community.

“We are dedicated to collaborating with a range of industries to help us discover and implement innovative projects that are beneficial to our community and the future of the Gold Coast,” Mayor Tate said.

“The Gold Coast has an entrepreneurial focus and we are on the lookout for unique proposals that will benefit our infrastructure, parklands, open spaces, environment, community facilities and lifestyle.

“As the fastest growing city in Australia and the country’s second largest council we have a vast number of opportunities to explore through market-led proposals.

“We are committed to driving economic growth and facilitating major investments that make the Gold Coast the best city in Australia to invest, live, work and visit.”

The Enhance Gold Coast portal is designed to provide a single channel with a clear, consistent and transparent process for businesses to submit their proposals.

For an innovative proposal to be successful it is expected to showcase a unique and/or innovative solution to a problem, address an opportunity or enhance city services. It must align with Council’s strategic objectives, outline how it benefits the city and clearly demonstrate how it offers value for money.

The applicant would need to prove that the proposal can contribute to local business and industry, include environmental protection measures and embody ethical behaviour and fair dealing.
