Glen Eira City Council has released its Smart City Roadmap developed in collaboration with community and local stakeholders – aiming to create a technology-enabled future for the region.
Council said it was pleased to see hundreds of people participate in the creation of the Roadmap, sharing ideas, priorities, concerns, and discovering how the community can work together to improve liveability, sustainability, proactivity, and collaboration in Glen Eira.
Some of the key community priorities being worked on in the Roadmap include improved resource management, city mobility, safety and health services.
By applying key smart city principles, Council hopes to be able to build on these foundations to create and enable smart city processes.
Council said that these core principles will ideally create valuable outcomes for the community and focus on coordinating the area’s smart city activities.
To help further this, Council is in the process of developing an Implementation Plan, to document and work alongside the Roadmap to enable its adoption and to work internally to focus on governance and capabilities.
It also aims to aid in directing Council actions, help build understanding and promote maturity across systems and processes.
