The City of Greater Geelong has appointed Kaarina Phyland as Acting Chief Executive Officer following the resignation of former CEO, Martin Cutter.

The Acting CEO will oversee the transitional period until the completion of a formal CEO recruitment process, which will be conducted by recruitment firm One(n2a).

The recruitment of a new CEO is expected to be completed in six months time according to One(n2a).

Ms Phyland has served as the City’s Director of Strategy, People and Performance and has been with the organisation since May 2018.

City of Greater Geelong Mayor, Peter Murrihy, congratulated Ms Phyland on her appointment.

“We have confidence that Kaarina will lead the organisation in a strong and effective manner while the CEO recruitment process takes place,” Mayor Murrihy said.

“We look forward to working with One(n2a) to fill this important and critical role for our community.”
