The Western Australian Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) is providing councils with up to $766,000 to assist with the transportation of electrical and electronic waste (e-waste) for recycling.

This support comes as part of the State Government’s ongoing commitment to the environment and successful implementation of the e-waste disposal ban to landfill.

From 1 July 2024, a statewide ban on the disposal of e-waste to landfill was introduced, marking a significant step in reducing environmental harm in Western Australia.

The E-waste Regional Transportation Support Scheme (ERTSS) has now been established to support regional and remote local governments during this transition period.

Eligible local governments can apply for a rebate of up to half of the costs incurred for transporting eligible e-waste to an appropriately licensed e-waste recycler or aggregation hub.

This initiative is part of a broader package of more than $10 million being provided by the State Government to support effective e-waste recycling across Western Australia.

For more information on the ERTSS, visit the E-waste Regional Transportation Support Scheme.
