The Queensland Government has approved the next tranche of funding under the $12.5 million Scheme Supply Fund, fast-tracking housing for nine regional councils.

The Scheme Supply Fund is designed to boost housing affordability and supply to deliver more Queenslanders a place to call home.

Councils that have been approved under the recent round of funding include:

  • Balonne Shire Council
  • Goondiwindi Regional Council
  • Napranum Aboriginal Shire Council
  • Paroo Shire Council
  • Cassowary Coast Regional Council
  • Livingstone Shire Council
  • Lockyer Valley Regional Council
  • Mareeba Regional Council
  • Somerset Regional Council

The Scheme Supply Fund has now approved $9.6 million in funding to local councils with more funding rounds to follow.

Queensland Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, Jarrod Bleijie, said that the latest round of funding demonstrated the State Government’s continued commitment to fast-tracking housing solutions and unlocking land for development.

“With this funding, we’re empowering even more councils to reform their planning schemes, remove barriers to development, and ensure that housing projects can move from approval to construction faster than ever,” Bleijie said.

“This is about building the homes Queenslanders need now and into the future, and we’re on track to meet our target of one million homes by 2044.”
