The City of Parramatta Council is requesting feedback from residents on proposed sites for the installation of Kerbside EV Charging points, as part of the NSW Government’s Kerbside Charging Grant Program.
The project supports the City of Parramatta’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy and will help to expand convenient EV charging options for residents and visitors, particularly those without access to off‑street parking.
There are 61 proposed kerbside EV charging locations across the City of Parramatta.
In July 2024, the NSW Government announced the EV Kerbside Charging Grants Round 2, aimed at installing chargers in priority areas with limited access to private off-street parking.
The program supports NSW’s goal of becoming the easiest place in Australia to own and operate an EV. Its key objectives are to:
- Increase EV charging options for EV drivers with limited or no access to off-street parking
- Cater for an increasing number of EV drivers and instil confidence in those considering the transition to an EV
- Test different kerbside charging technologies and commercial models to develop a sustainable kerbside charging market
- Provide information and support on planning approvals pathways for kerbside charging
This program is administered by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment, and Water.
Three Charge Point Operators (CPOs) EVX, Plus ES, and Electric Future were successful in securing funding and have proposed multiple EV charging sites within the City of Parramatta LGA based on foreseen charging demand, return on investment and physical location.
A total of 61 sites (85 charging spots) have been identified. Alternative locations will be considered during community consultation if required.
The proposed sites are distributed across all wards as follows:
- Dundas: 10 sites
- Epping: 12 sites
- North Rocks: 10 sites
- Parramatta: 14 sites
- Rosehill: 15 sites
The operators have requested dedicated parking spaces for these chargers and Council has assessed the sites ahead of community consultation.
The chargers will be telegraph pole-mounted. The poles are owned by the electricity network providers including both Endeavour Energy and Ausgrid, who have been consulted and have either approved the proposed locations or are currently in the process of doing so.
The proposed chargers are 22 kW AC single or dual port chargers.
Community consultation is open from Monday 19 January to 5pm on Sunday 8 February 2026.
As part of the consultation, property owners within 50 metres of the proposed chargers will receive letters outlining the proposal and inviting feedback.
