Griffith City Council is set to receive almost $500,000 in federal funding to replace ageing runway lights at Griffith Regional Airport.

The funds will help ensure the facility continues to meet safety and operational standards for the community and aviation operators.

Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, Catherine King, has confirmed that nearly $12 million will be distributed to regional airports across New South Wales under round four of the Regional Airports Program.

Griffith City Mayor, Doug Curran, said that the funding was a significant win for the city and its airport.

“This investment will allow us to upgrade critical infrastructure, improving safety and reliability for all airport users,” Mayor Curran said.

“Griffith Regional Airport is a vital link for our community and businesses, and these improvements will help support its continued operation and growth.”
