Councils across New South Wales are being encouraged to nominate suitable sites to host electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

The NSW Government is working with councils, businesses and communities to support the transition to electric vehicles through its Electric Vehicle Strategy.

Hosting an EV charger can help meet growing demand while supporting local adoption of electric vehicles. It can also deliver broader benefits for communities and businesses, including increased visitor dwell time and improved location visibility.

There are currently more than 400 fast-charging locations operating across New South Wales, with additional sites needed by 2031 to meet projected demand.

Local Government NSW is encouraging councils to review the new site host page, which allows councils, businesses and property owners to register their interest in hosting charging infrastructure.

Local governments may consider potential sites within their own portfolios and promote the opportunity to businesses and landowners in their area.

Further information is available from the Fast Charging Grants team at evfc@environment.nsw.gov.au.
