The Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is urging the Queensland Government to host community forums as the council attempts to better educate their community about the Toowoomba North South Transport Corridor.
Toowoomba Regional Council Mayor, Geoff McDonald, said that a series of community information sessions are vital to helping the community gather information on the North South Transport Corridor projects, as well as provide feedback.
“This is vital to ensuring all views are considered as well as giving affected landholders information relevant to the project,” Mayor McDonald said.
“The Department of Transport and Main Roads need to engage with affected landholders with a series of public information forums to provide a detailed explanation of the project prior to the feedback deadline.”
TRC Infrastructure Services Group Portfolio Lead Councillor, Melissa Taylor, said that by introducing forums to the community, now is the time for landholders to have their say.
“It is pleasing that State Government has extended the community consultation period until 8 September and I encourage the community to make their views known ASAP,” Cr Taylor said.
