Early works for the Dunheved Road Upgrade are set to begin soon, marking a major step in improving transport links across the Penrith region.
Penrith City Council has appointed Georgiou Group to deliver the early works phase, which will focus on improving safety, capacity and connectivity along the key corridor.
The initial stage is expected to run for six to nine months and will prepare the project for main construction. Works will include finalising civil designs, securing utility approvals, undertaking site and geotechnical investigations, developing traffic management plans and completing noise assessments for nearby properties.
These activities are designed to ensure a smooth transition into major construction and minimise disruption to residents and road users.
The main construction phase will see Dunheved Road upgraded to a dual carriageway, along with significant improvements at key intersections including Richmond Road, Greenbank Drive and Trinity Drive.
Two new bridges and three new roundabouts will also be delivered as part of the project to improve traffic flow and safety.
Major works are expected to begin in mid-2026.
The project is being funded through the Federal Government’s Infrastructure Investment Program.
