Tea Tree Gully Council’s 2022-23 Annual Business Plan has approved $50 million in construction and capital works projects, to boost the local economy and improve health and wellbeing for the community.

Costs for the over $50 million in capital works will be offset through $17.1 million in government grants.

Capital works:

  • $20.62 million to upgrade and build capital buildings
  • $3.7 million for sporting, park and playground upgrades
  • $1.97 million for road reconstruction and renovation
  • $1.2 million for road resealing
  • $1.36 million for Roads to Recovery
  • $1 million for new footpaths
  • $7.3 million for city beautification works

Other major investments:

  • $10.56 million for parks and gardens
  • $9.29 million for waste management
  • $4.18 million for recreation and leisure
  • $3.13 million for the library
  • $3.82 million for community services
  • $37.63 million for operations

Investment in roads, footpaths and open spaces such as playgrounds will continue, with about $6.8 million to be spent on improving safety and accessibility of these projects across the city.

Environmental projects, such as public lighting improvements and the planting of thousands more trees, will also go ahead.

The remainder of the budget will go to key services, such as waste collection, verge mowing, community centres and library.

Community feedback played an important role in helping shape the Tea Tree Gully Council’s budget.
