A recent Trade for a Day event at Housing ACT Aged Persons Units has highlighted how facilities management is about more that just the maintenance of physical assets.

This initiative, hosted by Programmed, not only enhances the energy efficiency and safety of elderly tenants’ homes by upgrading to LED lighting and servicing heating systems but also strengthens community ties through social activities.

The event included free food and social activities.

The event included free meals, informative talks by local authorities, and opportunities for tenants to engage with service providers, significantly reducing social isolation and improving their quality of life.

Gregory Lackey, the enthusiastic Social Inclusion Manager, shared glowing remarks about the event’s profound effect on the residents’ spirits and highlighted Programmed’s deep-rooted commitment to social responsibility.

Attendees at the event enjoyed a free sausage sizzle.

The feedback was unanimously positive, resonating well beyond the tenants to include Housing ACT and event guests, all commending the initiative’s significant impact on the elderly’s well-being.

This event is a shining example of how facility management can transcend the usual nuts and bolts, weaving in the crucial threads of social and environmental responsibility.
