Following a secret ballot at an Ordinary Council meeting, the City of Logan has appointed a new deputy mayor due to the expiry of Cr Natalie Willcocks’s one-year term.
Councillor Laurie Koranski has been appointed Deputy Mayor of the City of Logan for the remainder of the 2020-2024 term. The appointment is effective immediately and in line with Local Government Act 2009 requirements.
Cr Koranski has stepped down from her role as Chair of the City of Logan City Lifestyle Committee, which will be filled at the May 2023 committee round.
Cr Koranski said being Deputy Mayor was an honour bestowed upon few people.
“Our city is moving forward, and we’re privileged to be leaders of not just a good city but a great city,” Cr Koranski said.
“By working together over the past three years, we’ve seen Logan prosper through
the COVID-19 pandemic and flooding, and we’ll continue to do so.
“We have a steady, reliable and focused Councillor team.”
City of Logan Mayor, Darren Power, congratulated Cr Koranski on her appointment and thanked Cr Willcocks for her time in the role.
The 2024 Local Government election will be held on 16 March 2024.
