The City of Greater Bendigo’s Seniors Festival is to be held from 1-8 October 2023, and Council is calling for expressions of interest from organisations in the region to host events or activities for older adults.
City of Greater Bendigo Community Partnership Manager, Andie West, said Council is calling on local community groups and organisations to hold an event or activity during the festival, to showcase their group and provide entertainment and activities for older adults.
“Groups and organisations can hold information sessions, events that promote positive ageing, morning teas, craft and gardening activities, tours, entertainment, learning opportunities, come and try days or exercise programs, in fact any activity or event that older adults will enjoy,” Ms West said.
“The Seniors Festival is a fantastic opportunity to recognise and celebrate the valuable contribution of older adults to our community and to encourage older adults to connect, be active and involved in the many activities available during the festival week.
“It’s a great way for groups and organisations to connect with older adults who make up a large part of our population. So, if you think your group or organisation can host a great event for older adults then we want to hear from you.
“This year’s festival will celebrate with the theme Learn Love Live and a highlight will be the Seniors Concert which will take place on Friday October 6, at The Capital View Street.
“Events and activities registered by Wednesday August 19, 2023 will be listed and promoted in the printed and online festival program. Groups and organisations are also encouraged to promote events through their own networks and on the Connect Greater Bendigo events calendar.”
Any group or organisation wanting their event or activity listed in the program must complete a Seniors Festival Event listing form online at www.bendigo.vic.gov.au//positiveageing.
