The Cash Advance Debenture Rate (CADR) for the 2026-27 financial year has been set at 5.85 per cent, effective from 1 July 2026.
The Local Government Association (LGA) of South Australia has been advised by the Local Government Finance Authority that the rate will apply from the start of the financial year.
The CADR is a legislated interest rate used by South Australian councils to calculate interest and other charges under a range of provisions in the Local Government Act 1999, including those relating to council rates and payment arrangements.
The Act defines the CADR as the cash advance debenture rate used by the Local Government Finance Authority of South Australia at the commencement of each financial year.
Councils use the rate for a number of calculations under Chapter 10 of the Local Government Act 1999, including Sections 181, 182, 182A and 186.
Further information is available through the LGA’s council rates resources.
