Sustainability Victoria’s largest ever Buy Circular Showcase has concluded, having attracted more than 175 attendees and featuring 28 innovative suppliers sharing their circular economy insights.
Held at Bunjil Place, Narre Warren on 11 June, the showcase is a key initiative supporting local councils to embed circular economy principles into infrastructure, landscaping, and the built environment.
The event brought together representatives from local, state, and federal governments, along with circular product suppliers and industry leaders, to explore how recycled and circular products are being integrated into real-world projects.
Event highlights included inspiring presentations from local government Buy Circular Champions and a vibrant supplier showcase, featuring a wide range of circular products and insights.
Close the Loop, a showcase supplier, found the event very beneficial, with Head of Circular Economy, Steve Morris, saying, “I’ve had at least ten good conversations this morning. I would have travelled to this event for any one of them.”
Yan Zhao, Senior Landscape Architect at Yarra Ranges Council, was equally positive saying, “It was such an inspiring and informative session, bringing together like-minded people from a range of organisations and professions.”
Attendees also had the option of a site visit to Orana Estate, the largest master planned community in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs, or Casey Fields, a premier sports and recreation precinct designed with circularity in mind and incorporating recycled materials throughout.
Shannon Smyth, Manager of Markets Acceleration at Sustainability Victoria, said, “The energy at the Showcase was contagious, and the conversations had, and the connections made, were invaluable. The momentum from this event will continue to grow as we work together to accelerate circular outcomes across the region.”
This milestone event was supported by dedicated Buy Circular Champions from City of Casey, Frankston City Council, Mornington Peninsula Shire, and City of Greater Dandenong, whose leadership and collaboration continue to drive change on the ground.
