The City of Casey community will soon be able to monitor their carbon footprint and reduce greenhouse gas emissions thanks to a new partnership with climate monitoring app  ClimateClever.

The partnership will provide schools, homes and businesses with 50 per cent of the ClimateClever app so they can measure and track their carbon footprint and work towards reducing emissions.

The app also allows users to create a personalised action plan to reduce consumption, costs, and carbon emissions across all utilities, including electricity, gas, water and waste.

In 2018, the City of Casey conducted a Community Environment Survey which demonstrated that 89 per cent of the respondents were concerned about the potential impacts of climate change within Casey’s community.

The Council said it is committed to working with neighbouring councils through the South East Councils Climate Change Alliance (SECCCA) to understand the major impacts of climate change and global warming, and how to prepare for them.

The partnership supports the Council’s Emissions Management Plan, which seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and work towards achieving carbon neutrality. As well as the Smart Casey Launchpad which guides how the Council harnesses data, technology and innovation to build a sustainable, inclusive and innovative community.

The 50 per cent discount means residents will only pay $15 a year for the app. Residents will automatically receive a discount once they put in their postcode.
