Briometrix and footpath.ai are working together to change the way cities assess, plan and improve pedestrian infrastructure and accessibility.

This partnership combines AI-driven footpath mapping with detailed mobility assessments to create safer, more inclusive urban environments for pedestrians, wheelchair users and people with diverse mobility needs.

By bringing together the AI-powered mapping solution from footpath.ai and on-the-ground 3D geometry and accessibility insights from Briometrix, this collaboration provides a new level of detail in understanding how walkable and wheelable urban spaces truly are.

“Cities are built for movement, but not everyone experiences them the same way,” said Dr. Meead Saberi, co-founder and director of footpath.ai.

“With this partnership, we’re going beyond traditional assessments by integrating AI and real-world mobility data to give local governments the full picture of how walkable and accessible their streets really are.”

A data-driven approach to walkability and accessibility

Traditional footpath assessments often overlook the real challenges faced by wheelchair users, parents with strollers and people with mobility aids. footpath.ai’s AI-powered mapping captures the state of pedestrian infrastructure at scale, while Briometrix’s mobility-focused assessments provide insights into the effort required to navigate paths, compliance with accessibility standards, transport connectivity and real-world usability.

By combining high-resolution mapping with detailed field assessments, footpath.ai and Briometrix are helping cities make data-driven decisions to improve mobility for all.

“This is about more than just compliance – it’s about ensuring that streets, footpaths and crossings work for everyone,” said Natalie Verdon, Director of Briometrix. “With detailed data, councils and transport planners can make informed choices that improve accessibility where it’s needed most.”

Shaping cities for everyone

As urban population grows, pedestrian mobility and accessibility are becoming essential parts of transport planning. This collaboration provides cities with actionable insights, helping them prioritise improvements, enhance safety and support active and independent mobility for all users.
