The Local Government Association (LGA) of South Australia has announced that its Ordinary General Meeting (OGM) and Conference will take place on Thursday 23 May and Friday 24 May.

A networking welcome reception will precede the OGM and Conference.

Those attending will have the opportunity to hear how the LGA is performing for members and get a strategic look at what is going to shape communities over the next decades – new trends, tough challenges and exciting opportunities.

The theme of the 2024 OGM is Vision 2050 – Future of Local Government.

A keynote speaker for the event will be Director and Co-founder of The Demographics Group, Simon Kuestenmacher. Mr Kuestenmacher has deep insights on demographic trends, consumer insights and cultural change in Australia.

Throughout the day, the OGM will explore how towns and cities have changed since the pandemic and where they are expected to go.

As more people choose to work from home, there is a shift in the urban and regional landscape. This can mean the growth of new businesses and technologies, changes in how people work and live, and shifts in what people like to buy.

With less commuters, these changes will also transform local economies and the way South Australian communities look.

The OGM will discuss how these trends will impact local government —and the steps that will need to be taken to adapt.

Registration for the event is now open.
